In this paper, I briefly point to logocracy and excessive noise in the modern word, especially after the digital period, as well as the decline of silence and ignorance of its significance. I will next deal with the meaning, analysis, and definition of silence and its relationship with notions such as expression, talk, and voice. I will next introduce varieties of silence, including semantic, vocal, strategic, tactical, symbolic, etc. After these preliminaries, I elaborate silent living, or silence-based life, as well as its moral, religious, and mystical examples. The next section is devoted to the three moral functions of silence from the standpoint of Islamic ethics. In the end, I have emphasized the central and neglected role of silence in the ethics of peace, pointing to the perils of logocentric views in this regard.
