A moral system is a system governing its followers and organizing their behaviors and volitional characters in their four-way relationships (with God, with themselves, with others, and with the environment). Every moral system involves elements and components, the chief among which are moral codes. The main moral command in the Christian and Catholic moral system is the moral code of love. The code suggests that humans should love God, themselves, and others without a consideration of any reward. According to followers of Catholicism, the moral code emancipates humans from slavery and leads them to the position of children of God. The moral code is said to have as its advantage the happiness and peace among people. In this paper, I initially explain the moral code of love by drawing upon religious sources in Catholic Christianity, and then analyze and criticize it.
