One of the important issues in the field of human knowledge is the effect of non-cognitive factors on human knowledge. Some thinkers like Clifford, relying on relativism, believed this influence to be against ethics, but people like William James believe that feelings, ethics, and generally non-cognitive factors affect cognition, and not only is this not against the ethics of knowledge, but On the contrary, it agrees with logic and human experience. In the Islamic tradition, great thinkers such as Allameh Tabatabaei are of the opinion that inner matters such as virtues and vices have an effect on knowledge, both present and acquired. William James is an American psychologist and philosopher who looks at this issue based on pragmatism and the originality of profit, and Allameh Tabatabai has addressed this issue with the glasses of realism and realism. Therefore, in this research, we decided to weigh the points of view of these two thinkers together. From the obtained results, it can be pointed out that the turning point of William James is the lived experience and benefit that is behind such influence and influences, unlike Allameh who has an objective view of ethics and knowledge in the Islamic system.
