thics and law are two social sciences that share the common goal of fostering a healthy society. Both are based on human will, yet they differ in structural and substantive dimensions such as subject, scope, purpose, and enforcement mechanisms. This study, by examining the similarities and differences between ethics and law in various aspects, arrives at the theory of distinction and interdependence, emphasizing the fundamental principle that legal systems, as influential institutions for societal well-being, are inherently reliant on ethical principles. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method, incorporating the interpretative views of experts from both fields. The key finding of this study is that the validity and sustainability of legal systems depend on ethics being considered either as the substance of law, as one of its predefined objectives, or as a dimension of its structure. This is exemplified by the recognition of "good morals" as a limiting framework for the application of current laws in the country.
