"Slavery" in itself is reprehensible from the perspective of morality and in conflict with the basic natural rights of humans; however, the explanation of its rulings in the Quran has caused opponents to accuse Islam of supporting slavery and introduce it as a violation of human rights. Considering the importance of morality in the heart of Islam and human life and the importance of the jurisprudential and rational method in explaining moral issues, this research attempts to examine the issue from the perspective of ethics - insofar as it is subject to religious rulings -; considering the sources of Islamic jurisprudence in a descriptive and analytical manner, in order to come up with reasoned answers to the question of what is the religious ruling on slavery? The results indicate that although slavery is abhorrent from the initial consideration of moral principles such as the principle of justice and equality, etc., but due to the requirement of applying jurisprudential rules such as the principle of prioritizing the greater good over the greater, considering the objectives of the Sharia, etc., it is likely to be subject to different religious rulings of permissibility, obligation, and prohibition, etc.
